Henderson was found lying on the street – he was on the verge of death. His skeletal body was brought to the shelter where they sent out an email blast for rescues to help this very ill puppy. He was suffering from bacterial pneumonia. After 5 days in the hospital – he went to a foster home to recover. However after 2 weeks it became clear he was not gaining weight at the rate we had expected. He would eat well for 1 week and then start vomiting. Weight gain was impossible and he was still severely underweight and weak.
After a trip to a specialist it was determined his intestines had twisted in on itself causing him those issues digesting food. An emergency, complicated surgery was performed and he spent several days at the hospital recovering. His foster family decide to adopt him. We love giving dogs like Henderson the second (and third) chance they so deserve.
